China's heating market has undergone a major revolution from the earliest cow dung to coal-fired heating, and then gradually transformed  to central heating, and then to intelligent heating such as air conditioning, water heating, electric/steam heating and so on, till the birth of the latest technology of "clean heating with phase change energy storage". With the arrival of another heating season, recalling the changes in heating of Chinese people's homes in warm rooms is like reading a heating development history of Chinese people.

Actually, central heating has a short history in China and does not spread until the 1970s. And its initial purpose is mainly to improve the working conditions of workers and enhance labor productivity. Residents complain constantly, but few could really solve problems. The after-sales service of central heating cannot be done well, leaving all only to be people¡¯s angry and helpless complaints.

The central heating system in the northern China was established according to the planned economy model. Since the reform and opening up, it has undergone a transformation of market economy. In the new era, rigid requirements for energy conservation and emission reduction have been added. Indoors should be warm and outdoors shall be blue sky. Coal is the main energy source for heating in winter in the northern China. The data shows that since the implementation of clean heating on a large scale in the northern region in 2017, the proportion of clean coal has accelerated and the proportion of "coal to gas" and "coal to electricity" has also accelerated. By the end of this year, the rate of clean heating in the northern region exceeded 50.7%. The clean heating rate in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and surrounding "2 + 26" cities have reached 72%.
