Introduction to Sudan Garri-4 Sponge Coke Unit Project

This is the first fluidized bed unit in Africa, as the world's first new energy power generation unit, it uses sponge coke as the only fuel. O&M Power overcomes the numerous technical problems and with care of O&M Power, in December 2010, 2 units generating power at full load was realized.

Garri-4 power station is located 70KM north of Khartoum, Sudan capital, and 13KM to east Nile River, near it is the center of the Khartoum Refinery. It covers an area of about 16ha with rectangular in shape, 510.00M long from north to south, 325.00M wide from east to west.

Garri-4 power Station uses sponge coke as the only fuel and units #1&#2 which adopt unit system are designed. DGJ240/9.4-¢ô1 type high-temperature high-pressure CFB boiler, produced by Dongfang Boiler Industry Corporation, is equipped for the unit. Boiler rated evaporation capacity is 240T / H, the main steam temperature is 540 ¡ãC, single drum natural circulation, semi-open arranged circulating fluidized bed boiler, single furnace, adiabatic cyclone separator, water-cooled roller slag machines and full-steel furnace frame. The steam turbine equipment uses N558.83/535 impulse condensing steam turbine produced by Shanghai Turbine Co., the high temperature and pressure, single-shaft single-casing condensing steam turbine generator. Turbine generator is QF-60-2 air-cooling generator sets produced by the Shanghai generator Co., its rated power is 60MW, the generator excitation system adopts brushless excitation. The power from generator supplies through unit connection to step-up transformer, the voltage is increased to 220KV. Then it is delivered to the new-installed 220KV step-up switchyard and connected with Garri-2 220KV power distribution device by 220KV bus interval wiring. And through power transmission line, it is delivered to the Sudan national power grid.

By commissioning and COD operation, we fully grasp the techniques of the unit which uses sponge coke as the only fuel. Compared with world counterparts, sponge coke technique is further improved by O&M Power, which fill a gap at home and abroad.

Distributed Generation Technology:

O&M Power takes large-scale gas turbine and combined cycle power generation technology as basis, combines technology research and development of cogeneration and power plant waste heat refrigeration. Targeting at urban users, the new energy power generation, with micro gas turbine as the core equipment, integrate refrigeration, heating and power generation process, is developed. The technology will be widely used in central power supply, central heating and central refrigerating in government administration buildings, high-tech industrial zone, software park, big exhibition hall, factory workshops, hotels, commercial buildings, airports, stations, hospitals, universities and residential district. After meet the power consumption, the power generation mode can also supply power to power grid. This technology realizes energy cascade utilization and comprehensive efficiency of fuel over 85%.
